    Allergies are an abnormal response of the immune system to substances called allergens.

    Allergen immunotherapy is a form of treatment aimed at decreasing your sensitivity to allergens. Immunotherapy involves introducing increasing amounts of an allergen to a patient over several months.
  • Is immunotherapy effective in eliminating allergies?
    Yes, immunotherapy is very effective in greatly decreasing, or even eliminating, the symptoms of allergies. Up to 85% of patients report a complete cure or a noticeable reduction in allergy symptoms.
  • Are the testing and immunotherapy covered by insurance?

  • Is immunotherapy effective for children?

  • How do I prepare for an allergy test?
    Tell your allergist about all medicines you're taking, including over-the-counter medicines. Don't take antihistamines for 3-7 days before the test. Ask an allergist when to stop taking them.
  • Can allergies be cured?
    There is currently no cure for allergies. However, there are OTC and prescription medications that may relieve symptoms. Avoiding allergy triggers or reducing contact with them can help prevent allergic reactions. Over time, immunotherapy may reduce the severity of allergic reactions.
  • How are allergies diagnosed?

    Yes. Once you are sensitized or allergic, both indoor and outdoor allergens can cause asthma symptoms and attacks, as well as other allergic symptoms such as sneezing or a runny nose. It is therefore important to consider whether your asthma is caused or worsened by allergens.
  • How are allergies treated?
